Mikey joined Counterpart Ventures on Fund I as a foundational member, helping to create the Counter Club and define our value-add as investors in our earliest founders. Mikey now splits his time between Los Angeles and San Francisco sourcing deals and managing the Counter Club community. He looks for software founders at the Seed and Series A stage that have begun to see momentum and repetition in all aspects of their business. In the current AI era he looks for founders that have built a repeatable sales motion where the bigger unlock lies years ahead. Mikey looks to work with founders that are agile and relentless to see their vision succeed. Focusing on the early-stage challenges of team building, customer acquisition, sales and marketing. He has spent the last 10+ years working with entrepreneurs in Australia and the US across a number of different industries.
Mikey began his career as a journalist and then moved into the mining and resources industry, the largest industry in his home city of Perth, Western Australia. He moved to the US in 2018 to join Counterpart Ventures and takes many lessons from working with large multinational corporations. He focuses now on introducing his founders to warm, qualified sales leads by way of Counterpart’s Counter Club community. He assists in helping his portfolio companies make key hires and setting the long-term strategic decision.
In his spare time Mikey enjoys running, cycling and watching his beloved Manchester United. Although he was born in Australia his family originates from Greece and it is his Greek culture that plays a big part in his character. He grew up in his family’s seafood business working closely with his Papou, after whom he is named. His values are captured well by the Greek term philotimo .
